I have been active my entire life. I was a competitive runner, avid hiking enthusiast, group fitness instructor, and personal trainer. I owned my own exercise and yoga studio where I taught everything from strength training to cycling and yoga.
In my late 40s I was staring 50 in the face and feeling frustrated with changes I was seeing in my body. It seemed that no matter how hard I exercised I just did not have the look I wanted. I wanted to see the results of my hard work.
That led me to hire a trainer who taught me to lift weights. I loved the results and friends began to tell me I should do a bodybuilding competition. I was intrigued and did my first competition at the age of 52.
That’s when I realized I had been approaching fitness the wrong way. Looking fit isn’t about doing hours of cardio or counting calories. It’s about strengthening your muscles, fueling your body with the right foods, and stepping into the mindset of a winner.
I have spent the last decade learning everything I can about exercise and nutrition through research, certification courses, and of course competing.
